Council – Kingston City Council

About City of Kingston

The City of Kingston is a local government area located in Melbourne’s south. Kingston has a population of around 135,000 people of diverse ages and backgrounds. The area is also home to 4,000 industrial sites with a workforce of around 70,000 people.

The City of Kingston is made up of bayside suburbs as well as significant open space and environmental areas and established residential and industrial precincts.

Kingston City Council is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, prosperous and sustainable community and is working with EPA Victoria, landfill operators and the community to reduce the impacts from landfills in the area.

What is Kingston City Council doing to address odour issues?

While EPA Victoria is responsible for issuing, monitoring and enforcing licences for landfill operations, Kingston City Council has played an active role in responding to residents’ concerns and reporting these to EPA Victoria.

Kingston City Council has welcomed EPA Victoria’s strong stance on landfill operators breaching their licence conditions in the area. Kingston City Council will continue to work with EPA Victoria to address odour pollution and dust to ensure residents are not impacted by odour pollution and dust and the health and wellbeing of residents in the City of Kingston are maintained.
